A perfect pairing for your Thanksgiving table
Fall calls me to my kitchen more than any other time of year. I’m not sure if it’s the need for warmth in the form of baking fresh pumpkin bread or the smells that mulled wine and anything with cinnamon and vanilla produce, but there’s something I can’t resist.
With Thanksgiving upon us, my latest calling has been to find the perfect festive cocktail. For this quest, I collaborated with a friend and fellow blogger from Cider and Black who beautifully captured this photography.
We started by looking for drinks with some of our favorite fall flavors like cinnamon, pumpkin and pear to name a few (but not all together!) We stumbled upon this recipe with pear cider, cinnamon and spiced rum and knew we needed a taste test.
The recipe is so easy to make. If the drink itself doesn’t win you over, the apple and cinnamon aroma surely will!
Makes 2 cocktails
2½ oz spiced rum (we used Kraken Black Spiced Rum)
4 oz fresh unfiltered apple juice
2 big pinches of Chinese 5 Spice
2 cinnamon sticks
1 bottle hard Pear Cider
In a shaker half-filled with ice-cubes, combine the rum, apple juice, and Chinese 5 spice. Shake well and pour in a glass. Top with the pear cider and garnish with a cinnamon stick and twist of lemon peel.
I serve anything I can get away with in these beveled mason jars and this drink is no exception. It makes for a pretty festive presentation with the lemon peel and cinnamon stick. You don’t have to tell anyone how easy it was to pull together. Your secret’s safe here!
Cheers & Happy Thanksgiving
